SEAWUN is a not-for-profit, independent and self-governing organization.
The Board and the Executive Council (consisting of the President and the Executive Director) are responsible for guiding and directing the network. The Board comprises a President and one Board Member for each participating Member Country. Currently the Board is composed of six members, including the Executive Director. The Board Members are nominated by their respective member country.
The network has a permanent secretariat, the SEAWUN Office in Hanoi, to support the management and network activities. The SEAWUN Office is headed by the Executive Director and has currently 4 permanent staff: Assistant to the Executive Director, Accountant, Public Relations Officer and Program Adviser. Since 2007 the Program Adviser is seconded through the Center of International Migration and Development (CIM), a development cooperation program of the German Government.
The SEAWUN Office operates as a non-government organization with permission of the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, official document No. 4742/VPCP-QHQT dated 29 September, 2003, agreed by the Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Vietnam.
